Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
The National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015, has projected a shortage of 109 million skilled persons by 2022 and called for
an integrated effort to step up skilling of youth under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana(PMKVY).
Keeping in view, it is decided by the Ministry of Human Resource Development that All India Council for Technical Education,
New Delhi will run the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) to train the unemployed youth, especially school/ college drop-outs, in Engineering Skills
through AICTE approved Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics.
